114% growth during the next three years!

The healthcare sector in India currently represents a value of $35 billion, a figure which is predicted to grow to $75 billion during the next three years, an increase of 114%.  Since 1994 the healthcare industry has been growing at 12% per annum on an average. Expenditures within the industry are growing at exponential rates and predictions are that the industry will contribute 8% to India's GDP in the year 2012. The industry is developing in an increasingly professional manner, with more than 2.5 million treatments per annum and has established itself as one of the largest service sectors within the country. The government contributes siginifcantly as well, with expenditure in this sector increasing by 20% annually. By 2017 the healthcare sector is expected to have a size of $150 billion, double the projected size for 2012.

Similarly, the biotechnology sector holds enormous potential as well. In 2009, the market was measured at $2.51 billion, a growth of 17.8% when compared to 2008. By the end of 2010, this sector is expected to have a market size of $5 billion.
